The 200 device fire detection system was installed as part of a comprehensive refurbishment programme undertaken by the museum to make the new site an environmentally controlled, secure and well-protected location for the collection of rare and irreplaceable books and records.
The building is maintained at a constant 15 deg C temperature and 60 per cent humidity, with the fire detection system optimised for the environment. Crown Security recommended using a number of SITA flashpoints on the loop, giving staff an early audible and visual indication of any fire hazard.
