The new reader can read Mifare Classic credentials, making it suitable for existing customers who want to migrate to Mifare DESFire.
The dual technology reading capabilities avoid users being forced to change all credentials overnight, thus avoiding a considerable migration headache, say the manufacturers.
Customers can keep a mixed pool of both Mifare DESFire and Mifare Classic credentials, and gradually replace existing cards.
