An updated listing of certificated installers of built in fire protection and the products they use has been published by Warrington Certification.
In order to achieve FIRAS certification and to be listed in Part 2 of the Technical Directory of Certificated Fire Products and Services, installation companies have to undergo a number of assessments covering the training and competency of their workforces, and are subject to random inspections of work they have carried out. In addition, on completion of the work, certification to show traceability must be provided and held with the building owner.
The directory is available free of charge and covers various elements of construction, from fire-resisting doorsets and cavity barriers, to ductwork and fire-resistant glass and glazing systems. It also includes a summary of relevant legislation and related standards.
The hard copy directory is backed up by a ‘live’ listing of FIRAS certificated companies at www.firas-register.co.uk. Further information about the scheme, including downloadable copies of Part 2 of the directory, can be found under ‘certifying’ at www.warringtonfire.net
