New disabilities guidance

[

A new guide on fire safety and disability is available from Workplace Law. ‘Fire and Disability 2008’ aims to provide responsible persons with information they need to reconcile fire safety and disability.

There are around 10 million adults in the UK covered by the provisions of the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA).

As well as the legal requirements provided by the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and the DDA, the report covers:

– British standards and building regulations

– evacuation plans, risk assessments, and ‘buddy’ systems

– refuges, evacuation chairs, and emergency lighting

– information on the range of auxiliary aids available to assist disabled people in an evacuation

Fire and Disability 2008 is available from www. workplacelaw.net
