Centralisation of the Scottish fire and police services, cyber security, transport security and the opportunities presented by the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games are but some of the areas to be covered by ‘Scotland: Secure for Business’.
Alongside a conference and exhibition, the event also offers an opportunity for Scottish-based security businesses to explore partnerships by providing one-to-one meetings with large security suppliers interested in partnering with small and medium-sized enterprises based in the region.
The ‘Scotland: Secure for Business’ event is also designed to inform local businesses about security trends, and will take place at Edinburgh’s world famous Murrayfield Stadium on Tuesday 23 October.
This new event aims to promote the capability of Scottish SMEs involved in security, matching them with large companies in 15-20 minute meetings to explore mutual opportunities around the common theme of security, and providing them with the opportunity to meet potential customers in both the public and commercial sectors.
Developed by the British Security Industry Association (BSIA) and delivered with the support of Scottish Enterprise, the event is due to welcome delegates from a range of business sectors. As an added bonus, the informative conference and exhibition is free to attend.
Multitude of security challenges
Ross White, senior executive – Aerospace, Defence and Marine at Scottish Enterprise, commented: “This one-day security-focused event is aimed at providing businesses with the latest information and guidance on planning for the impact of a multitude of security challenges including cyber crime. We also want to explore the impact of forthcoming changes to Scottish policing and the imminent arrival of the Commonwealth Games.”
White added: “The additional ‘Meet The Buyer’ element also shows our support for Scottish businesses, enabling them to develop meaningful business relationships with the biggest players in the security sector, and in turn promoting the ability of Scottish businesses to make a real impact on a national scale.”
Willie Clark, Scottish regional representative at the BSIA, said: “This is an exciting opportunity to showcase the Scottish security industry, provide information on relevant issues and to help create new business partnerships and opportunities while also promoting the quality and professionalism of the BSIA’s members.”
