Glazeguard has created the Triple-lit Firefloor which uses Pilkington Pyrostop. The Firefloor is a single layer, glass-to-glass, butt-jointed system and is suitable for both domestic and commercial glass floor applications. It is also one of the largest fire resistant floors that have been tested to current British and new European standards. A single panel is available at the size of 1 x 3m. The system also offers strength, durability, says the company, and provides one hour protection for both
In testing, the entire floor (an area of 3.6 x 4.4m) withstood 4.5kN/ square metre, equivalent to a weight of in excess of 8000kg. As well as this loading, an additional 5kN of weight was also applied. The total deflection of the upper glass surface in the centre was less than 4mm. The weights were left on during the fire test and were still in their same position after 68 minutes, with the panels undamaged.
Pilkington Pyrostop is a clear, fully insulating fire and safety glass that offers an impact safety up to Class A of BS 6206:1981.
