The handheld devices can work continuously for a whole week and have been designed for personal security, outdoor adventure and keeping track of youngsters anywhere in the world.
ATA supplies customers with PC-based software that works with the free mapping programs so they can create a GPS monitoring and communications station in their own home.
The software can track up to 200 units in real time and is said to be able to process data on the location, speed and direction of each unit.
ATA claims that users of the GPS personal tracker can receive incoming calls for free all over the globe because it supports four GSM frequencies (850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz). An emergency ‘help’ button on each device can be used to send out information on the exact location of the person so they can be rescued as soon as possible.
An alternative SOS function can be set up to send the user’s location by SMS to three predetermined telephone numbers or back to “control room”.
With a built-in 20-channel Sarental GPS antenna, the device is claimed to provide accurate location information even with weak signal strength.
ATA Security has also just launched a GPS/GPRS tracking watch, which is said to be the world’s smallest device to also support SMS technology.
