The device control software can manage which types of data can be synchronised between a host and Windows Mobile device through Microsoft’s ActiveSync protocol.
The manufacturer says DeviceLock enables organisations to integrate software and hardware-based encryption solutions like PGP Desktop Whole Disk Encryption or Lexar SAFE PSD S1100 USB drive with its device control function. SmartLine says it can detect whether data being transferred to mobile storage devices, such as USB sticks, external hard drives or even MP3 players, is encrypted or not, and activate access control policies accordingly.
Ashot Oganesyan, SmartLine founder and CTO said: “Instead of rushing to the market with another ‘me-too’ encryption tool, we chose the route of integrating with industry-leading cryptographic products, and – as a result – delivered to our customers a fundamentally more effective, crypto-intelligent device control solution.
“Our solution protects our customers’ investment in enterprise-class encryption platforms, while preserving the quality and reliability of cryptographic data protection provided by third-party brands.”
Key features of version 6.2 include keylogger prevention and flexibility for white listed USB devices.
