Professor David Charters has joined BRE as director of fire engineering and Charles Day has recently joined LPCB from Bureau Veritas (South Africa). In addition Joe Milton has joined LPCB as scheme manager for fire extinguishers and Phil Clare is to be responsible for LPCB’s work on Part P (Electrical Contractors).
Professor David Charters is a leading fire engineer with more than 18 years experience in the field. He joins from Arup Fire where he was a Director and before that he was chief engineer for the Department of Health. Prior to that David worked for the UK Atomic Energy Authority, where he was responsible for the quantified fire risk assessment of London Underground stations following the Kings Cross fire, and also a number of offshore platforms after the Piper Alpha disaster. More recently, he developed the Risk-Informed Fire Safety Management System for Network Rail and has been responsible for re-drafting HTM81 Fire Precautions in New Hospitals.
Charles Day has recently joined from Bureau Veritas (southern Africa) to support our international promotional efforts working with Philip Field. Charles will be leading our delegations to Brazil and Iran as well as working in Europe and the accession states.
Joe Milton has joined LPCB as scheme manager for fire extinguishers. Joe was previously at BSI and brings 17 years experience in testing, certification and committee work. He is a member of the FSH2 UK Technical Committee for fire extinguishers and represents the UK on CEN TC17/WGI Laboratories Group for fire extinguishers.
Phil Clare will be responsible for LPCB’s work on Part P (Electrical Contractors). He joins with over 20 years experience in BSI quality management systems certification and factory production control assessments in support of product approval/CE Marking, complaints and appeals.
