One of several brand new feature areas at IFSEC International 2012 – which runs at the NEC in Birmingham from 14-17 May – is the Next Generation CCTV and Surveillance Theatre.
Sponsored by Tyco Security Products, the zone features a series of excellent free-to-attend seminars and workshops for both the traditional trade and end user visitor groups such that they can discover how new technologies might improve their current security solutions as well as enhance their own level of technical expertise.
The Next Generation CCTV and Surveillance Theatre has been produced in association with Digital Grape Business Services, which is led by industry expert David Gorshkov.
Gorshkov’s organisation currently provides specialised consulting services to both UK and overseas-based technology companies and Government agencies seeking business intelligence, so too market entry strategy and channel partner development expertise in the area of advanced surveillance and VCA systems (as well as ICT and various advanced communications technologies).
Axis Communications is playing a fulsome role in this part of next week’s exhibition at the NEC in Birmingham, putting forward no less than three key speakers for sessions at conference. Those speakers are product manager Andres Vigren, regional director for northern Europe (and regular I4S blogger) Phil Doyle and the company’s business development manager Daren Lang.
What does Video Surveillance as a Service mean to the security world?
Daren Lang’s presentation takes place in the Next Generation CCTV and Surveillance Theatre in Hall 5 at the NEC in Birmingham from 10.40 am through until 11.40 am on the opening day of the show – Monday 14 May.
Given that this is an extremely interesting and current topic, Lang will cover the development of cloud technology in the security industry and the need for it, speaking of Axis’ experience with its own ‘Hosted Video’ service and how the technology will help to drive the industry in the future.
Should lighting conditions dictate camera quality?
As one of the newer areas of interest within the security sector this is most definitely a topic worth hearing about.
Andres Vigren’s presentation takes place on Tuesday 15 May – again in Hall 3a within the Next Generation CCTV and Surveillance area – and will be aimed at systems integrators and installers, being a more technical presentation about the Axis Lightfinder technology and how this enables the end user to obtain better quality images in poor lighting conditions.
This solution could also benefit security installers in terms of a reduction in the need for additional lighting accessories on site.
The presentation will look at key considerations practitioners ought to bear in mind when using this technology.
Edge storage: could this ‘tool of convenience’ drive convergence in the UK market?
Edge storage not only allows smaller installations to see the benefits of network video, but also offers a more cost-effective solution for them.
Could this be the answer that might tip the UK convergence rate in line with the rest of Europe?
In his presentation on Thursday 17 May (which runs from 10.20 am-11.20 am), Phil Doyle will explore the possibilities of edge storage and outline why Axis Communications feels this type of solution will encourage smaller installations to move from analogue to IP technology.
