Firefighters today are still at the site of a Northampton carpet warehouse, where a fire which broke out nearly a week ago has still not been completely extinguished.
According to the Northampton Chronicle & Echo, small fires at the Garrard Waters building are still alight in areas unsafe for firefighters to enter. The roof of the 60,000 sq ft premises had earlier collapsed and at one time, the fire had threatened surrounding buildings and inhabitants – including a chemical warehouse next door.
The fire broke out last Tuesday when 40 staff were safely evacuated. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
