Opgal have announced that they have added long-range fire detection capabilities to certain models of their EyeSec thermal cameras.
The manufacturer claims to be the only camera manufacturer that deliver an application-specific embedded fire detection video algorithm that can detect a fire and provide an automatic safety and security notification of the event.
The camera can detect a 75x75cm fire from up to 840 metres with detection ranges increasing to up to 6.5km for fires bigger than 6x6m, claim Opgal.
Once a temperature threshold has been set, the camera will alert whenever any object in its field of view exceeds that temperature. The cameras also use image-processing features to look for indicative flame and temperature patterns.
Users can specify up to five areas of ‘non-interest’ where fires or risks will be ignored by the system.
Yair M. Sakov, vice president of Opgal’s security business unit, said, “EyeSec cameras are known for their high-quality thermal video, produced through our proprietary signal and image processing.
“With fire detection and fire risk assessment as a value added, integrated analytics option, this versatile camera family not only supports security applications but also adds a valuable safety aspect to our customer’s deployments.”
