Oracle answers network latency problem

It is the company’s first dome to have its hardware and software designed “from the ground-up” with the company’s own recording products in mind.

It is controlled and configured exclusively by the latest generation of DM DVRs and video servers such as the SD Range and DV-IP family.

It has advances such as on-screen “Point & Go” PTZ control. When operators click on the point of interest on screen, the Oracle will immediately move to that position, just like a pre-set.

This is said to be ideal for a network based system where latency means joystick control is almost impossible, says DM, part of the AD Group.

“Point & Go” is available when the camera is purchased with DM’s new generation servers, recorders or encoders.

Oracle, available in indoor and outdoor formats, can be configured via a connected DVR’s comprehensive web pages

Other features are cable compensation to extend the maximum cable run and the ability to access maintenance and usage data from a DVR.

Pauline Norstrom, worldwide head of marketing, said the camera was a “landmark” and its features would make it a popular choice in applications from retail to transportation.
