Panasonic introduces intelligent software upgrade for WJ-NV200 NVR

Panasonic System Networks Europe first introduced the WJ-NV200 16-channel NVR to security professionals in 2010, and this year demonstrated its “lightning fast” setup with a Top Gear-style speed challenge at IFSEC.

The device, which already sports a host of smart features and a PC-free setup, can now be upgraded with the WJ-NVF20 business intelligence kit.

The NVF20 software extends the system capability for number of faces that can be matched and speed of face matching, to enhance suspect detection efficiency.

It also extends Panasonic surveillance capability in commercial and marketing applications where gender and age profiling can provide valuable marketing insight into, for example, consumer behaviour.

Real time face matching
Compatible with the latest Panasonic i-Pro SmartHD cameras, the WJ-NV200 NVR makes it possible to apply real time face matching technology to surveillance systems.

Panasonic says this “essentially adds another set of eyes in camera monitoring, freeing up security personnel time and helping create a more efficient security operation”.

The new WJ-NVF20 kit extends that capability, adding people counting along with estimated gender and age profiling.

For commercial organisations such as retailers which use unsophisticated door opening or doormat sensor based systems to count footfall, this means that existing Panasonic surveillance technology can be upgraded to count footfall and estimate the profile of customers entering and circulating in different retail and profit centres.

Free trial period
WJ-NVF20 software is available on a three month free trial and data can be exported to CSV for analysis and reporting in common PC applications.

Using the NV200 GUI interface, data for a specified time period, such as every hour or every day, can be graphically displayed and/or saved to SDHC card, to a network connected PC or central database, making multisite comparisons simple.

Panasonic says: “Imagine if you are growing a restaurant chain business and you need to understand peak period customer age profiles in order to assist decision making on sales promotion.

“The Panasonic NV200 NVF20 solution could clinch the decision to prioritise beverage or desert special offers during the all important Sunday lunchtime.

“With Panasonic i-Pro SmartHD intelligent surveillance hardware alongside powerful software solutions such as NVF20, Panasonic again demonstrates innovation and an aptitude to drive down total cost of ownership through system convergence and application extension.”

Extended functionality
Adding the WJ-NVF20 kit to the WJ-NV200 NVR extends the face matching functionality from a maximum of 16 persons able to be registered to 64, and the number of images that can be used for face matching from eight to 32.

Spped is also increased, from two faces per second to four, and the system can also provide 16 multi-camera displays when the face matching function is activated, up from four.
