Police work for Showsec

The Leicester firm scooped the contract when Sting and his band mates announced their reunion following 21 years apart.

Working at some of the biggest venues in England and Wales – including the Millennium Stadium and the newly-opened Wembley Arena – Showsec staff secured backstage areas, dressing rooms and the stage itself.

The company’s contract involved liaising with venues and local authorities to make sure the Message in a Bottle stars were safe at all times.

Showsec’s operations director Mark Logan coordinated the security management procedures of the tour, drawing from the company’s resource of some 2,000 fully-trained staff.

He said, “It is testimony to the efforts of our training department and trainers that we are able to draw on such a wide range of skilled staff. The professionalism, quality and experience of the staff made the project much easier to implement.”

Staff with SIA close protection qualifications were also tasked with looking after famous fans including Naomi Campbell, Bob Geldof and Richard E Grant.

Showsec said their close working relationship with promoter Live Nation helped the events to run smoothly.

Logan said, “The liaison between myself and the tour security director, Scott Nicholls, was also very close as we have worked together previously on many artists including The Rolling Stones and U2”.
