The toolkit – hosted on the Perpetuity Research and Consultancy International (PRCI) website – is completely free of charge and is described as being “easy to use”.
Speaking about the development, Joe Greenan – Health and Safety and security manager at Allen and Overy – commented: “This toolkit will not only allow enterprises to benchmark their organisation against others in the industry, but the common thread is that it will identify weaknesses and provide a structure for determining cost-effective security priorities.”
Another end users – John Hall, the security manager at BMW – added: “This benchmarking tool is without doubt the most innovative security measurement software I have used to date. For a long time, I’ve wanted to independently understand how successful and effective our security systems, policies and procedures are in the real world. The security benchmarking tool has enabled me to individually score each element of BMW’s security and focus on areas that need improvement. I’m now looking forward to sharing my results with other security professionals within the industry.”
Raising standards in security provision
PRCI’s director Professor Martin Gill noted: “We have found that for a long time now companies have been saying they don’t know how good or bad their security is. Well now they have a chance to find out. We’re committed to helping companies raise standards in security provision, and we believe the toolkit will facilitate that goal.”
