Project Griffin Chair wins ASIS award

Randall, who is Senior Vice President and International Security Manager, EMEA, of JP Morgan Chase, will be presented with the award as part of the ASIS European Conference.

He was nominated for his work in developing the Project Griffin initiative which has successfully brought together the public and private security sectors.

Project Griffin enlists the private security sector’s help in providing cordon support and/or high visibility patrolling during critical incidents, to free up police for other duties.

The police also deliver counter-terrorism training to private security guards in the scheme and then security officers can feedback suspicious movements to their local coordinator.

Police also share intelligence in a weekly conference call with members of the scheme.

Project Griffin has proved a big success and is now being imitated abroad in places such as the USA, Australia, South Africa and Hong Kong. It is perhaps the first such public/private law enforcement co-operation project to expand abroad.

Randall, a former senior detective, was also awarded an MBE in the New Year’s Honours for services to the law enforcement community.
