QED was formed in 1997, and began by distirbuting ‘security consumables’ such as BNC connectors and cable. More recently they have distributed security equipment, including DVRs and CCTV cameras. In all, the company has supplied over 6,000 different products to the industry.
But now QED believes its image has been ‘blurred’ through this offering to the market, so changes have been made to focus the business on security consumables.
Marketing manager Matt Byrom said: “Consumables are what QED was built on and what we are best at. We are able to supply almost any first fix consumable product required for an installation, which makes buying an easy decision when installers are putting a project plan together.
Installer help
“We understand there are many companies in the market that offer security equipment. However there is nowhere else that you can buy the range of security consumables that you can from QED. From cable and connectors to PSUs and fixings, QED can offer everything an installer needs to actually fit a job.”
Byrom said the changes are designed to help the installer.
“If companies know they can get all the first fix items from one place with one order, one delivery and one invoice, this simplifies their whole buying process and will help their company become more profitable,” he said.
As part of the rebranding process, QED has adopted a new tag line: ‘King of Consumables’. This goes some way to explaining the crown which features on their logo to illustrate this story.
