Record number pass ASIS tests

No less than 20 candidates representing a broad spectrum of UK and multinational organisations have passed the ASIS International CPP (Certified Protection Professional) and PSP (Physical Security Professional) examinations that were held in the UK last November.

The pass rate represents a record for the UK, and is ample evidence of the growing interest among security managers, directors and consultants to obtain a formal, internationally-recognised qualification in the discipline of security management. Successful candidates are to be presented with their certificates by Baroness Ruth Henig (chairman of the Security Industry Authority) at a special celebration dinner in mid-March.

Under the expert guidance of tutor Barry Walker CPP, the CPP candidates spent six months preparing for the examination, which required them to study a range of security management books written by some of the foremost international experts in the field. Together with John Julian – a fellow practising consultant – Barry has been responsible for the success of 100 candidates over a number of years.

The PSP study course is delivered by Peter Horsburgh, who developed the preparation programme when the PSP was first introduced to the UK back in 2003 (the CPP qualification has been running since 1977). Under his guidance, ten of the eleven candidates who sat the examination last November passed – surpassing all previous PSP records set in the UK.
