The event received an overwhelming response from India and abroad with over 200 exhibitors from 20 countries occupying a gross area of 15,000sq m. Organisers UBM Live – publishers of info4security.com – have confirmed that over 60 per cent of space has already been booked for IFSEC India 2009.
The event also attracted the attention of Sheila Dikshit, Chief Minister of Delhi, who attended the first day of the event, which took place from October 16-18, at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.
She said: “The events are all the more important considering the alarming security situation the nation is facing today.” She added that the issues discussed and points deliberated at the event should come in handy for the government, industry and people at large.
Tremendous response
M Gandhi, managing director, UBM India Pvt Ltd said: “This year the response has been tremendous and it reflects a cornerstone of a healthy and vibrant industry. It is this belief that drives our efforts to make IFSEC & FIREX India 2008 not only a centre for the international security and fire industries, but also a focal point for cutting-edge technologies.”
James Blue, director, Security and Fire, said: “The phenomenal success of this event reflects the confidence of the industry and we are already looking to the future in building on this year’s achievements to produce an even greater event in 2009.”
Exhibitors were thrilled with the response of visitors at the event. Lookman Electroplast CEO Dr Saifuddin Bharmal was elated with the response from the visitors. He said: “The exhibition is excellent and the joint efforts of the Asian Professional Security Association, Fire and Safety Association of India, Council of Architecture and ISHARE have borne fruit.”
Stronger industry
Anil Dhawan, senior vice president of sales and marketing at G4S Security Services, and president of the Asian Professional Security Association, was also positive about the event. He said: “I am confident that the outcome of the exhibition will result in a stronger industry.”
Returning exhibitor Deepak Thakur, director, South Asia, Security & Data Collection, Honeywell, said the event provided a great platform.
Pankaj Mehrotra, general manager of Ceasefire Industries Limited, felt that the concept was very relevant to the industry. “This show has brought together exhibitors, traders, manufacturers, end users on a common platform,” he said. “The visitor turnout too has been excellent.”
FIREX success
In its second year, this event gained traction with the new co-location of FIREX India – a major opportunity for the fire protection industry to meet leading specifiers and installers operating in the world’s second fastest growing economy.
The growth of the fire, safety and security markets in India has attracted the attention of many international players, with sectors including IT, BPO, retail and construction at the forefront.
IFSEC India 2008 was supported by the Asian Professional Security Association (APSA) and Fire and Safety Association of India (FSAI) and endorsed by the Council of Architecture & ISHRAE.
Its foundation partners are G4S Security services as principal partner, Alba Urmet, HID, Honeywell, Intelligent Traffic Solutions, Nitin, Siemens, Tyco and Zicom.
