Response times up to individual services

[

The government has confirmed it has no plans to introduce national response targets for the fire and rescue services, following the move to regional control centres.

In a parliamentary answer to a question from Andrew Dismore MP, fire minister Angela Smith said it was for fire and rescue authorities to set their own response under their own integrated risk management plans. The government has, however, developed a set of key indicators which are designed to show the impact of regional control centres on response times.

She added that two features of the fire control system – automatic vehicle location systems and the ability to dynamically mobiles fire appliances, “are expected to put downward pressure on response times”.
