Safety trio win Queen’s Awards

Three fire safety related companies are among those announced today as recipients of the Queen’s Award for Enterprise. They are, Vodec Industrial Communications, SunGard Public Sector and Haztec International.

Vodec Industrial Communications supply public address and alarm systems for oil and gas drilling installations; SunGard Public Sector supply safety communication systems for major events, football matches and for disaster management at incidents; and Haztec International manufacture warning equipment for emergency services vehicles.

There are 139 business awards in total: 85 awards are for outstanding achievements in international trade, 42 for innovation and 12 for sustainable development.

“Queen’s Award winning companies are standard-bearers for the very best of British business,” said the prime minister, Gordon Brown. “These firms embody the spirit of enterprise and innovation that is so vital to the future of Britain’s economy. Whether large or small, every one of this year’s winning organisations has achieved outstanding success in its field. I congratulate them all on their diverse and remarkable achievements.”
