The A1 camera series are equipped with the all new Samsung Electronics A1 DSP (Digital Signal Processor) engine, which has been developed in house by Samsung Electronics to deliver increased image resolution, reduced picture noise and provide enhanced contrast. The company says the cameras “display a picture quality comparable to that seen by the human eye”.
The A1 reference refers to “All in one” and “Ace ONE”, apparently, and the new A1 chipset enables delivery of a variety of features beneficial to CCTV camera users, Samsung Electronics says.
Features include achieving 600 TV lines of horizontal resolution by means of 12 Bit A to D serial signal processing coupled with image element enhancement technology.
A1 chipset
Diverse technologies are utilised in the A1 chipset, enabling the latest generation of Samsung Electronics’ CCTV cameras to deliver performance technology including ‘motion adaptive DNR’.
This technology is the result of the utilisation of both 2D and 3D filters which reduce noise in the brightness of the image and noise caused by movement, providing a distinct and clear image under even the most demanding of lighting conditions.
The A1 engine also features XDR (eXtended Dynamic Range), which enhances the level of visible detail displayed in darker scene areas, whilst maintaining clear image reproduction in the brighter scene areas. This technology is particularly useful in high contrast scenarios and in areas of strong backlight, Samsung Electronics says.
Video content analysis
Intelligent video content analysis has been incorporated into the A1 chipset – the manufacturer claims this makes “Samsung Electronics A1 analogue cameras among the first in the world to offer intelligent video content analysis”.
The built-in video content analysis features include ‘object left’, ‘object removed’ and tracking function to monitor an object passing through a scene, generating an alarm in the event of abnormal directional changes.
A total of twelve dome and box style A1 cameras will be released from March. The premium range of PTZ smart dome cameras and zoom style box cameras will be introduced from July.
