The collaboration enables Alert Services’ customers to benefit from using Chiron’s independent VdS-accredited IRIS intruder alarm monitoring solution – which is apparently proving to be one the most popular IP security monitoring systems across Europe.
The IRIS system – which last month became the first to gain the coveted independent VdS certification to EN 50131, 50136 and EN 54-21 for fire systems (approved to Grade 4 ATS-6) – offers secure primary and back-up communications routes between monitored sites and Alarm Receiving Centres.
IRIS allows end users to benefit from valuable cost savings over traditional fixed line alarm communications, and significantly adds value to existing IT networks.
Independent certification by VdS
Independent certification by VdS is widely accepted across Europe as the highest quality benchmark that developers can work towards. Chiron is the only company to have reached it in the IP alarms field.
The advantages of its IRIS and IRIS Touch systems include faster alerting, cheaper line monitoring, a range of value-added services (such as visual verification of alarm alerts and building management system monitoring, in addition to improved network resilience).
End users also benefit from an improved service that links future-proof technology with the opportunities for genuine and sizeable reductions in their monitoring costs.
Making good use of IRIS Touch
Commenting on the new agreement with Securitas-Alert Services, Chiron’s corporate account manager, Vikram Datar, said that customers could also now take advantage of IRIS Touch, the recent major update to the IRIS range that provides a variety of extra user-friendly features as well as a fresh new design and operating interface which makes life much easier for end users and installers alike.
“This operating deal with Securitas-Alert Services is very significant because of the company’s market profile and proven track record in alarms and CCTV monitoring,” commented Datar. “It will really benefit end users and installers across the UK, following the example of more than 20,000 IRIS users and 100 ARCs across Europe.”
Securitas-Alert Services’ national business creation manager, Tina Wadsworth, explained: “We’re delighted to be adding Chiron’s IRIS alarms-over-IP solutions to our range of intruder alarm and surveillance monitoring capabilities. Chiron’s systems and its forward-thinking operational benefits will strengthen and broaden the range of services we can offer installers and end users.”
Proven network resilience
IRIS Touch offers all the advantages of alarms-over-IP transmission and monitoring technology, including substantial operational cost savings (anywhere between 50%-70% compared with conventional Redcare links), remote troubleshooting, remote CCTV camera control and proven network resilience through constant dual-path back-up communication via PSTN, GSM or GPRS routes.
Chiron Security Communications’ products are now used in a number of applications, such as connecting standard alarm panels to ISDN, dual-path signalling, video surveillance and alarm connections over private IP networks.
The company has been designing and developing communications systems for the security industry for over 18 years, in turn offering solutions that are now relied upon by banks and insurance companies as well as security systems providers themselves.
