Security Excellence Awards 2011 preview: Partnering Initiative and Event Security Team

The 2011 Security Excellence Awards take place on Wednesday October 19 at London’s Park Lane Hilton. Find out more about the SEAs here.

Security Partnering Initiative of the Year

These days, every successful business is involved in partnering and the efficient management of suppliers and customers. This award recognises the security organisation that has done the most in this respect, and is open to consultants, installers, managers and guarding companies

First Security Guards and Deutsche Bank

First Security Guards commits to its client with high level director and senior management visits on a weekly basis. There’s a fully-integrated on-site management team whose members resolve any operational or tactical issues on a daily basis.

PCL Whitehall Security Group and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer

PCL Whitehall Security Group’s working relationship with Freshfields has now entered its 31st year, which is commendable to say the least. There’s an open dialogue with the estate to render an exact understanding of what the security operation is about and requires.

PRCI: The Security Research Initiative

The Security Research Initiative represents a unique partnership. Organisations including the BSIA, The Security Institute and ASIS UK Chapter 208 have joined the programme to help develop products and methodologies of benefit to the security sector as a whole.

Reliance High-Tech and Sainsbury’s

The Sainsbury’s Personal Safety Solution involves Reliance Protect – this includes an Identicom device which provides GPS localisation with 24/7 monitoring and response, training and support. In the event of an incident, staff members are able to raise a ‘red alert’.

Securitas Security Services and Partners – The Security Alliance

Launched in June, The Security Alliance was formed as a group of like-minded companies joining forces to offer customers a ‘One-Stop Shop’ for ‘Best of Breed’ security solutions. All partners meet on a regular basis and provide solutions that fit the marketplace.

Securitas Security Services and Sainsbury’s – The ROLEX Project

ROLEX (Return on Labour Expenditure) stemmed from Sainsbury’s CEO Justin King wanting to make every store a safe place to work. Securitas instigated stringent periodic reviews. The British Safety Council’s International Safety Award proves its degree of success.

Sir Robert McAlpine and Clipfine

Clipfine has worked in partnership with SRM to develop a security software package that creates front end security advice for tendering and estimating, reduces time taken on site inductions and produces a reporting mechanism that can be standardised across the business.

Sodexo and Acctive Systems

Acctive Systems became the approved provider of electronic security solutions to Sodexo back in 2009. Sodexo was looking for a partner with well-trained engineers who had a high first time fix rate. Acctive Systems has met this requirement. Mutual trust and respect abound.

The Shield Guarding Company: South Bank Employers Group Patrol

The South Bank Employers Group Patrol involves a range of stakeholders with Shield supplying security staff. Street crime and instances of anti-social behaviour have fallen to such a degree that the team involved has been granted a special ‘Warden’s Charter’.

Ultimate Security Services and Land Securities

A new cost management process provides the client with formal and informal communication and feedback. As a direct result there’s total transparency in contract dealings, enhanced operating margins and greatly improved results reported right across the supply chain.

Event Security Team of the Year

This award is designed to recognise the best providers of event stewarding and crowd management-related security solutions within the UK marketplace

Cardinal Security (Cardinal Security Events Team)

Cardinal has sourced trained and licensed officers for events across the UK since its inception, and has grown steadily over the last three years. The company’s professional officers can provide customers in the leisure, retail and commercial sectors with the experience and dedication needed for effective event security management. High profile contracts in recent times have included the 2010 Ryder Cup, where 35 officers were tasked with managing merchandise areas and CCTV solutions complete with specialist video analytics.

FGH Security (FGH Security Events Division)

FGH Security’s Events Division has developed in three key stages since the company was founded in 2003. Today it supplies resources to service a number of contracts including that for Nova International (whereby FGH adds its security expertise to the British Gas Great North Swim and the Tesco Great School Run). Although the scale of the Events Division has grown and changed, the operational culture remains the same. The last four years have also seen FGH provide first class solutions at the Kendal Calling Festival.

SecuriGroup (Events Division)

SecuriGroup’s award-winning Events Division has a proven track record in crowd safety and event management. As one of the UK’s largest solutions providers in this arena, the company’s contract portfolio encompasses live music concerts and festivals, conferences, exhibitions and sports stadiums. Over 30 licensed close protection officers are on the books for VIP security. On 15 January, the Division made history by stewarding the Motherwell-Inverness CT fixture: the first-ever SPL match to go ahead without a police presence.

Showsec (Festival Team)

From its headquarters in Leicester, Showsec orchestrates over 3,000 event team members across ten regional offices. Its dedicated Festival Team implements bespoke, multi-faceted security operations at events throughout the UK. The company’s Training and Development Centre includes staff modules specific to festival security, from Control Room and campsite management through to pit training and arena security. Download, Camp Bestival and Rockness are some of the events secured by the Showsec team.

Sword Event Guard (Cardiff Event Security and Transport Team)

Sword Event Guard has been providing specialist event solutions at Cardiff Central Station on behalf of client Arriva Trains Wales since 2007. The contract has grown year-on-year to build-in the provision of crowd management planning, stewarding, revenue protection officers, SIA-licensed response teams and First Aid personnel. Newport Station was also covered during the 2010 Ryder Cup. The British Transport Police has commented on the excellent levels of professionalism shown in dealing with members of the public.
