At a Private View of the show on the 12th of June, the group’s chairman Brian Kingham awarded the Reliance Security Prize for Enterprise and Innovation to David Gadd for his design of a revolutionary new paint brush.
The prize, now in its fourth year, is awarded to a student whose project could be the basis of a viable and sustainable business without the need for major development of the prototype.
Kingham said that his company was pleased to be supporting talented youngsters:
“These are the people and the ideas that will determine the vibrancy and competitiveness of the UK economy in the years ahead. They are creating the Reliance customers of tomorrow.”
He continued, “I am delighted to see here today three previous winners of the Reliance Security prize who have created their own businesses. They are the entrepreneurial spirit of Brunel and the heart of the knowledge economy.”
The annual event is held to celebrate the best in engineering design and features over 150 students demonstrating some 400 commercial ideas.
