Adverts for the roles are currently appearing in the Metro as well as on MI5’s website.
Applicants will be carrying out a range of duties including patrols, vehicle checks and random exit searches as well as monitoring CCTV.
MI5’s advert says that previous experience is not essential as “we are looking for sound judgement, alertness, people skills and professionalism”.
Though a SIA license is not a requirement of the job, MI5 will put successful candidates through the application process immediately, as well as putting guards on in-house and external courses including first aid training, customer care and fire safety and security systems management.
Only born or naturalised British Citizens are eligible to apply and candidates must have been resident in the UK for nine out of the last 10 years, although those who have served in the British Armed Forces abroad or studied abroad may be eligible.
Pay starts at GB pound 19,418, rising to GB pound 27,074 with shift allowance. The deadline for requesting an application form is January 7th 2008.
