Leeds City Council currently provides CCTV surveillance monitoring across the city centre and local district. A recent report identified the need to update public space CCTV equipment from analogue to digital, enhance the communications capability and relocate the central monitoring function to enable further growth and integration to other neighbouring councils.
Metro, who provide CCTV surveillance monitoring of bus stations across West Yorkshire, has entered into a partnership with Leeds City Council to share these monitoring facilities.
Following a formal tender process, SGW Security Consulting has now been appointed security consultant on this project.
The key objectives of the project have been identified by Leeds City Council as:
- preventing and reducing crime and anti-social behaviour
- reducing the fear of crime and anti-social behaviour
- enhancing the basis of partnership working and engagement with communities, businesses and other organisations
Public space security specification
SGW Security Consulting will draw on its experience of public space security specifying to deliver professional, fully independent advice on strategic solutions and the specification of electronic and physical security to deliver the client’s brief.
When completed, the GB pound 1 million-plus project will include a new CCTV and Anti Social Behaviour Control Centre, monitoring in excess of 400 cameras throughout the Leeds city centre, adjoining districts and the Metro system.
Working with single clients or multiple agencies such as architects, contractors and construction companies right from the start of a project, and without allegiance to manufacturers or installers, SGW Security Consulting provides customers with unbiased support across a broad spectrum of security system solutions.
