The footballing arena which houses two of Germany’s top teams has won the German Fire Prevention Award. The Allianz Arena, which is located on the fringe of Munich and is home to FC Bayern Munich and TSV 1860, was fitted for fire prevention by Siemens Building Technologies.
Some 4600 Sinteso fire detectors are used to detect any smoke, supported by 600 manual call points which can also be used to raise the alarm. The alarm signals are recorded and processed in nine networked Sigmasys fire alarm control systems, the signals from which are routed through the Arena’s three system control rooms to the Munich fire service control centre.
The integrated fire prevention system also extends to visual coverage, with 85 video cameras, including 52 high-speed domes and five video workstations, providing an overview of the stadium’s security.
The stadium, which is known as the ‘UFO’ or ‘Michelin Tyre’ because of its space age facade, was handed the award because it successfully “integrated mandatory fire prevention measures with innovative planning”.
