Smoke control at new Westfield shopping centre

[

The recently opened Westfield shopping centre in west London is benefiting from smoke shaft systems installed in the stair cores. The 22 Univent systems from Smoke Control Services uses natural ventilation methods to clear smoke from common escape routes to allow people to escape from buildings in the event of a fire.

The systems, worth GB pound 400,000, were supplied to Meica Services working for Westfield London.

Part of the capital’s White City district, the 150,000sq m Westfield centre cost a reported GB pound 1.7bn and consists of 255 stores, including retailers such as Louis Vuitton, Mulberry and Tiffany & Co.
