Songs About Security this week is dedicated to Her Majesty The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee pageant that will be bringing the streets of London to a standstill this Sunday, and keeping 13,000 police and security officials very busy indeed.
It’s called Look on Down from the Bridge, which is exactly what those security and police officers will be doing this weekend as they watch over the Royal Family and the 1,000-boat flotilla as it travels along the River Thames.
The track is the closing tune from the last album by Mazzy Star, a 90s alternative rock band who I’ve recently discovered and bought all of their albums. So it’s mainly been chosen for purely selfish reasons as it gives me another opportunity to listen to my new favourite band!
It’s perhaps not quite as celebratory in tone as many would have expected for our SAS Jubilee Special, but then again we are an international website and we wouldn’t want to inflict our jubilation on the rest of the world.
Well, we could hardly have chosen the infamous Sex Pistols number, could we?
