Songs about security: Love Buzz

Love Buzz was well-known grunge band Nirvana’s debut single on Seattle label Sub Pop. It was a cover, originally by Dutch rock band Shocking Blue, and also appeared on Nirvana’s first album Bleach.

I’ve included it this week in somewhat ironic tribute to the teenager repellant known as the ‘Mosquito’. These are insects that buzz, you see. Ah, come on. It’s not that tenuous. We ran a story on it just yesterday, in which it was claimed the device does not cause hearing damage. Nirvana, on the other hand, made no such claim.

The video here is of a performance from 1993. This was my last year of high school, and Nirvana was quite popular at the time, not least with myself and my friends. Kurt Cobain would be dead within the year, and somehow more famous and popular after that.

But let’s not dwell on the negatives. Enjoy the video. It’s good. It is!
