The song was nominated by my colleague Andrew Sansom, a noted Bossophile, who is the deputy editor of I4S sister title SHP.
Andrew writes: “It’s about murder becoming incorporated into society to such an extent that violence and crime is just accepted as inevitable side-effects of unregulated capitalism, and how such a society’s establishment preys on people’s fears of violence to help it stay in power.
“That’s the slightly pretentious Bolshevik intellectual explanation anyhow – for people like Mark [Sennett, SHP web editor] and others [of his ilk], it’s about guns and stuff!”
