A new surface mounted version of the concealed RP8Si automatic door bottom seal has been launched by Raven Seals, and is distributed by Royde & Tucker. The RP35si acoustic, medium temperature smoke seal is suitable for fire rated doors up to FD60S.
Consisting of an aluminium channel, a cover strip and an extruded silicon seal, the unit can be installed with the door in place. It is particularly suitable for refurbishment or upgrading projects, where a door has already been installed but requires a fire/smoke and acoustic solution for door bottom sealing.
Like the concealed version, RP35si is spring loaded ensuring that the seal lifts clear of the floor as the door leaf is opened, and is deployed automatically by pressure against the door jamb when the door closes. This, says the company, guarantees the threshold is clear of obstructions when the door is open, while maintaining sealing integrity when it is closed.
The RP35si has been durability tested to over 1,000,000 cycles without failure, and is suitable where installations need to comply with Part E, Part B and Part M of the Building Regulations. The product is recommended for gaps between 3mm and 13mm and is available in standard lengths between 1220 and 380mm.
