The carnival, which took on a ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ theme, attracted more than 45,000 visitors to the Edgbaston constituency. That’s a lot of pirates to protect.
However, NEC Group stepped in to provide security and their stewards, technical staff and event planners all helped to coordinate the street party.
Ron Hill, an NEC Group Steward, and Harborne Carnival founder said:
“I launched the event nine years ago and since then it has gone from strength to strength. The atmosphere at this year’s carnival was electric, people were dancing in the streets and having a ball.”
The second largest carnival in the country, the event comprised of a parade, charity stalls and music from well-known local band Miccoli.
Hill continued: “The NEC Group has been a fantastic support, we now have to provide Security Industry Authority-qualified door supervisors to marshal at the event so without the sponsorship of the Group and the dedication of my colleagues the event would not be able to go ahead.”
Paul Thandi, Chief Executive of the NEC Group, said:
“This is a great event which I am proud to support. The carnival does a fantastic job to raise significant funding and awareness for charities in the region.”
