ECM is being heralded as the solution to every organisational problem, from compliance and risk mitigation and improving efficiencies through to reducing carbon footprint. However, there remains a lack of understanding as to how it should be adopted.
The market is already littered with horror stories about organisations that have purchased thousands of ECM software licences and yet, years on, have only a few hundred users in one. The key problem here is a widespread lack of understanding.
A Best Practice approach has to be taken by end users based upon the businesses’ individual requirements and a clear comprehension of what ECM is all about. End users need to understand ECM, develop a joined-up ECM strategy and devise Best Practice for implementation of that strategy.
