Tough cable meets standard

The 600/1000V steel wired armoured cable is, the company believes, the only third-party approved cable on the market that satisfies the stringent requirements of Clause 5.38 of Approved Document B (Fire safety) of the Building Regulations, which came into effect last April.

The accreditation, says Draka, “should be demanded by every specifier and installer, bearing in mind that the Fire Safety Order and the wider adoption of fire engineering solutions has made the market far more conscious of the need to use only proven, third-party approved, top quality products.”

Firetuf Powerplus is an OHLS – Zero Halogen Low Smoke – cable that is accredited by the LPCB across its entire size range.

It is designed for large or complex buildings and fire engineered buildings where it is essential that power circuits continue to function for the dependable operation of sophisticated fire detection and alarm systems; smoke venting systems; electrically-operated fire doors and smoke curtains; firefighting lifts; pressurisation and depressurisation fans; motor-driven smoke control dampers; and pumps for sprinkler systems and wet-risers.
