As part of last week’s national no smoking day, Avon Fire & Rescue Service released this video showing how a discarded cigarette can easily turn into a large fire.
The ‘Put it out, right out’ message is made clear throughout the video, and the introduction of Reduced Ignition Propensity cigarettes last year does not mean that smokers can rest easy that they won’t cause a fire.
Other advice issued by the fire service includes encouraging smokers to do so outdoors, and to only use ashtrays with non-flammable contents.
