Vista launches new DVRs, but more to come

Andrew Pigram described Navigator, which is being marketed as an easy-to-operate range, as a key product for Vista.

“The launch of the Navigator marks the start of an important new phase for us,” he said.

The range includes a wide range of new features, including a mouse-driven graphical user interface that aims to make it easier for operators to use whilst minimising training requirements.

An on-screen help function hopes to make it easy for less-experienced users to make the most out of the technology without needing to refer to separate manuals.

Individual alarms, camera record speed and quality settings can all be assigned to change automatically using the system’s drag and drop scheduling tool. This allows users to operate the system effectively using much less storage space.

Vista claims to have used the latest codec technology to allow video to be stored in two formats. JPEG is used for high resolution images, while MPEG-4 is used for optimal transmission over networks.

When using Navigator DVRs, dome control is provided over standard coaxial cable. Vista said this removes the cost of any extra cabling in existing systems. A large range of telemetry protocols is also said to enable compatibility with various third party dome and PTZ cameras.
