The International Institute of Security (IISec) has called on members to read through the amended security management standard before completing a questionnaire on the Skills for Security website.
An email to IISec members from chief executive John J.B. Allan said, “Now is your opportunity to have a say.
“[The NOS is] the foundation on which our profession will be assessed in terms of standards, training and qualifications. The relevance of your IISec qualifications and those to follow will be re-assessed and structured by this NOS.”
Allan said managers have a duty to speak their minds if they want to influence the future of security management standards.
National Occupational Standards (NOS) have been developed to define the level of competence needed for a particular job role or occupation. They can be used to develop foundation degrees and training programmes, to measure staff performance and to identify routes for progression and continuing professional development.
