Axis Camera Companion targets small business

The Axis Camera Companion is an IP video solution designed for small systems of up to 16 cameras, and comes with a free software client and cameras with SD-card support.

The system is specifically targeted at allowing small businesses access to future-proofed video surveillance with HDTV quality.

Smaller businesses have been left behind as larger companies have upgraded from analogue systems, says Axis’ Peter Friberg. “With our new solution, we address a segment of the market that has previously not had easy access to IP video. Since the Axis Camera Companion records all video in the cameras or encoders, the solution becomes very simple, reliable and cost-effective. Now, even small business owners can enjoy the benefits of network video, such as excellent HDTV image quality, remote access to video and scalability.”

Other key features of the system include:

  • remote access to view surveillance videos off-site
  • support for motion detection and PTZ control
  • easy export of snapshots to be sent to the relevant authorities
  • support for third party apps to view live and recorded video on tablets and smartphones

The cameras are all powered by the network (PoE) and images stored onto a standard SD memory card (meaning there is no single point of failure and thus reducing the risk of network failure).
