According to research carried out by Axis Communications at this year’s IFSEC Exhibition, 30% of buying decisions are still made by in-house managers, 24% by IT directors and 22% by company finance directors. However, over half of those installers, IT re-sellers, vendors and consultants questioned said they felt security managers were far more involved in buying decisions a couple of years ago.
Many pundits are also concerned about the lack of knowledge and education among the end user fraternity when it comes to IP-based surveillance solutions.
Dominic Bruning – UK managing director at Axis – told SMT: “It’s the duty of all those in the surveillance market to look to the next generation of IP-based technology, educate themselves about the benefits of it and then seek to educate the market as a whole.”
