Media data centre to combine Internet TV and IP-video surveillance services

In terms of TV, the company’s CVoD (Continuous Video on Demand) technology will enable viewers to tune in to broadcasts which are already running, and yet still watch them from the very beginning. The running programme can also be paused at any time so that desired scenes can be called up and viewed. ‘Live playback’ can then be switched on again.

This function is also the basis of remote video surveillance services provided by emergency call service centres. Experience has shown that frequently after an alarm has been activated, the event which triggered the alarm has moved out of the cameras’ field of view. But with this so-called “time-shift” technology, the centre can immediately view images of the event, even while live images are being recorded.

The media data centre will make this functionality available to connected emergency call service centres. Hosting and managed network services will also be provided. As a network operation centre, the data centre will continuously monitor the availability of network connections and active components in real time. Prompt remedial measures will be taken to rectify any interruption or failure, claims the company.

“The mutual use of this media data centre, and Artec’s patented technology for streaming internet IP-TV and IP-based video surveillance, make our offer economically interesting for all players in the market, thus giving us access to an enormous market potential. In addition to IPTV applications, IP-based remote video surveillance will be made accessible to widespread user groups and, accordingly, become a new growth market in the field of security technology,” concludes Thomas Hoffmann, CEO of Artec technologies.
