ExxonMobil has more than 9,000 sites for which SDA Protec will be primarily responsible, either installing CCTV at new service stations or re-fitting existing sites. So far, eight trial sites in the UK and four in Ireland have been completed, with work also commencing in 14 other European countries.
“Each service station has a standard specification for cameras, monitors and digital video recording, which is then adjusted according to what is required for local conditions and local legislation,” said SDA Protec technical manager Tom Robinson. “For example, stations outside of the UK may have additional cameras where ATMs are installed.”
