Securicor Cash Services – the cash solutions PROVIDER – HAS broken new ground by trialling overt mobile digital CCTV systems on a number of its Cash-in-Transit vans for the detection and prevention of serious crime against its employees and business.
Due for completion later this month, the trial is taking place in areas within the M25 ‘zone’ and Manchester. The cameras, which are linked to Securicor’s National Control Centre, also record and transmit real time and historical images of attacks that can help to identify and convict offenders.
Speaking to SMT, Securicor Cash Services security director Tony Smillie commented: “There’s still a high number of attacks on Cash-in-Transit vans and their crews. We have to respond to that trend by integrating traditional security with new CCTV initiatives.”
