State of Physical Access Trend Report 2024

Pointer wins £3m Thai prison order

Pointer Asia, based in Bangkok will provide up to 300 CCTV cameras with motion detection, as well as perimeter electric fences, sterile zone fence detection and physical security measures such as road blockers and vehicle gates. The systems will provide an integrated package and will be operated and monitored from a purpose built control room designed and installed by Pointer.
The contract win follows Pointer’s experience in engineering security systems for the Scottish Prison Service. The company established a base in Bangkok, after spotting an opportunity in 2000 to get involved in the modernisation of the country.
Bangkok office staff will work closely with the main contractors at the prisons to approve CAD drawings for the systems, and will supervise local subcontractors installing the system. Pointer staff will also commission the system and provide operator training.
