Leicestershire Police crack down on late-night violence
Leicester Police has enlisted the help of local coach company First Leicester, which is running early hours buses (complete with security officers on board) to ferry revellers out of the city centre at weekends in a bid to curb bouts of violence.
The officers will be backed-up by a battery of eight CCTV cameras on each of the six specially-designed double-decker coaches to be used in the operation.
Running from 12.30 am through to 2.00 am, the buses will cover six different routes out of the city.
As SMT went to press, negotiations were ongoing with Leicester-based private sector security company Check Force (one of the company’s bidding to staff the special buses).
