Honeywell pulls CCTV brands under one umbrella

The companies were acquired in 1999 along with other leading security companies specialising in access control and intruder detection.
The Honeywell security family began when VCL (Video Controls Ltd), one of the pioneers of the dome camera, became part of the Ademco group. It was quickly acquired by Honeywell, to be joined more recently by Ultrak and then Silent Witness.
Honeywell is a global supplier to the aerospace, electronics, building control, automotive, speciality chemicals and fibres industries. It is one of the most recognised and respected brands in the world.
According to Ben Cornett, president of Honeywell Security, the grouping of all brands under one umbrella will enable all its CCTV cameras, monitors, telemetry units and other security products to be emblazoned with Honeywell Security’s distinctive logo, enabling customers to harness its global brand identity.
The parent group has also appointed Nick Bowden to the post of European marketing director. Nick held the post of International marketing manager at Video Controls Ltd prior to the acquisitions that led to the company joining Honeywell Security.
As well as his extensive background in marketing, Nick has experience in many technical areas from his origins in product design. He holds a Degree in industrial design and a Masters in mechanical engineering.
