Pentax fills a void in surveillance needs at Cottam Power Station

CCTV

Camera lenses

THE PENTAX 12-660 MM ZOOM lens with 2x extender isn’t the kind of speciality surveillance kit one encounters every day. Two of these ‘monster’ lenses have been specified by systems integrator Eclipse Digital Software as part of the perimeter and asset protection solution at Cottam Power Station in Nottinghamshire.

Pole-top dome systems make up the majority of cameras on site. However, the problem of how to monitor a 3.5 km linear area covering the coal storage area, weigh bridge and several sensitive administrative zones had to be addressed.

The solution? Two of the giant Pentax lenses have been used in conjunction with JVC TK-C1480 cameras. This has effectively eliminated the need for anything up to 15 additional domes and camera poles.
