Hertfordshire police go for ANPR solution

Hertfordshire Constabulary has been using ANPR for several years, and plans to fully exploit the technology to reduce crime and disorder, counter terrorism, increase public confidence in the criminal justice system, increase feelings of public safety, and deny the criminal use of the roads in Hertfordshire.

Nigel Brown, Chief Inspector of Hertfordshire Constabulary, said: “The Constabulary has been working with PIPS for some time and has been very happy with the product. the read rate is excellent and we see it as a major tool to assist us in tackling criminal use of the roads. We are particularly pleased with the PIPS infrared rear dual cameras which enable us to operate day and night without any problem.”

PIPS has supplied 14 in-vehicle ANPR systems, comprising dual imaging P362 cameras and the Police ANPR Graphic Information System, controlled by an integrated mobile computer. Two cameras are installed in the vehicle, a colour and infrared P362 camera in the rear and a colour camera in the front.
